InventoryLens is a cloud app, and this policy says so plainly. The spreadsheets you open and edit are stored in Google Firebase Storage, not only on your device. The app has no user accounts, asks for no name or email, and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind.
InventoryLens is developed and operated by Kuka Lab (developer: Mykhaylo Osypov). Where this policy refers to "we" or "us", it means Kuka Lab. For anything in this document you can write to kukalab@mail.com.
InventoryLens exists to open one spreadsheet per locker. Understanding the privacy of the app is mostly understanding where that file goes.
| What | Where it is kept | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your spreadsheets — the .xlsx file for each locker, and everything written inside it | Google Firebase Storage, under inventory/<locker-id>.xlsx |
So the same file can be opened from a phone at the cabinet and from a browser at a desk |
| An anonymous sign-in identifier — a random ID, with no name, email or password attached | Firebase Authentication, plus a token cached on your device | So the storage rules can refuse requests from outside the app |
| Your language and theme choice | On your device only | So the app opens the way you left it |
The app does not inspect or interpret the contents of your files. It reads the first sheet and shows the rows as cards, whatever those rows contain.
If you type personal data into a locker file — names, crew numbers, anything identifying a person — that data is then stored in Firebase Storage like the rest of the file. Deciding what goes into the sheet, and whether you are allowed to put it there, is your responsibility as the person who keeps the record.
Stated as a list, because the absence of something is easy to gloss over:
The app asks for camera access for one purpose: reading the QR code on a locker label. Frames from the camera are examined on your device to find a code and are then discarded. No image or video is stored, saved to your library, or transmitted anywhere.
Camera access is optional. If you decline it, everything else still works — you can open a locker by typing its ID.
When you upload an existing spreadsheet, the system file picker is used. The app receives only the single file you choose. It has no ability to browse your device's storage and does not look at any other file.
InventoryLens uses Google Firebase (Firebase Storage and Firebase Authentication), provided by Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC, to store the files and to issue the anonymous sign-in described above. Google processes this data on our behalf.
In delivering that service, Google necessarily processes technical connection data such as IP address, device and operating-system information, and request timestamps. This is described in Firebase's own privacy documentation and in Google's Privacy Policy.
Firebase is the only third-party service the app talks to. There are no others.
The storage bucket used by InventoryLens is provisioned in the europe-west1 region (Belgium, European Union). Google may process technical connection data in other locations as described in its own policies.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process this data on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing the app you asked for, and — for the files themselves — because storing and returning them is the service.
You have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of the data we hold, and to object to its processing. In practice, for the spreadsheets, you already hold all of these: the files are ordinary workbooks you can download, change or delete.
To exercise any of these rights, or to ask us to erase a locker file and the anonymous identifier associated with your installation, write to kukalab@mail.com. You also have the right to complain to your national data-protection authority.
inventory/ to callers signed in through the app.No system is perfectly secure. An anonymous sign-in keeps the bucket closed to the open internet, but it does not distinguish one user of your organisation from another. Anyone with the app and your locker IDs can read and change those files. If your inventory contains something that requires stricter control, tell us before you put it in — that calls for named accounts, which the app does not yet have.
InventoryLens is a tool for workplace inventory. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
If the app starts doing something materially different with data — adding accounts, analytics or a new service provider — this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the date at the top will change. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.

In one sentence: InventoryLens stores your locker spreadsheets in Firebase so you can reach them from any device, and collects nothing else about you.
